FeTi:
Titanium is chemically active at high temperatures, and has a particularly strong affinity for sulfur, carbon, and gases such as oxygen and nitrogen. Ferro-titanium is consequently used in steel refining for deoxidation, and in some cases for denitrification or desulfurization. In ferrous materials, titanium is used for its effect in producing carbides and finer grain sizes, contributing to quality improvement in steel and stainless steel, and to the development of new materials.
